Urban Weddings : Real Brides, Real Stories - Megan & Rocco

Megan and Rocco - The Love Story

The REM song Shiny Happy People comes to mind when I look at this photo of Megan and Rocco! I have had the extreme pleasure of getting to know Megan over the course of about six months while working with her on her wedding jewelry. Megan's favorite color is blue so when Rocco proposed, he presented Megan with a sapphire and diamond ring on a white gold S band curve (he designed it!).  thus, the theme of her wedding.

Megan found me on my ETSY.com website, Urban Pearl Studio. It began with one request, a multistrand pearl bracelet with gorgeous genuine sapphire box clasp. Custom made, one if a kind and sooo delish. The rest is history and I have made an amazing new friend.

Megan, do tell all! :

We met at work, where we were both Engineers at Lockheed Martin.  We hung out often and became fast friends. Our friendship developed into an amazing love story and neither one of us can imagine spending the rest of our lives without each other in it!

Rocco grew up in South Jersey and in the 6.5 years we've been together, we've had many an adventure down the shore.  He and I both fell in love with Cape May and come wedding site decision making time he requested that we get married on the beach in Cape May.  It is going to be gorgeous!

Our theme is vintage travel!  We have map of the U.S. with luggage tag escort cards and each table is identified by a vintage postcard. Our wedsite ( mywedding.com is a great free wedsite that offers a variety of templates, we used 'Par Avion') and wedding suite have totally played on the vintage travel theme with a variety of fun fonts and old school aircraft imagery (our engagement party invites had a flight plan of Philadelphia, our save the dates were vintage Join Us in Cape May postcards and our invitations had RSVP postcards).

Here is where I come back in : Both Megan and Rocco love blue so it was an easy decision to have the wedding party wear blue dresses/blue shirts. She decided each of the 6 bridesmaids would pick their own shade of blue dress (She's a bride who actually wants her bridesmaids to wear their dresses again!!) and the only requirement was that they feel gorgeous in it!

With each bridesmaid's dress in a different shade of blue and an individually unique design, Megan and I went to work to design a different white pearl necklace and earrings set for each of the girls based on neckline and personality of the dress/bridesmaid. I would love to post photos here but the gifts are a surprise and Megan has yet to give them to her best friends.

Then we had the mothers! Stunning, gorgeous one of a kind designs were created to go with their lovely dresses. I can't wait to see the photos after the wedding!

Then came the finale, we just finished a joint venture design that will be stunning on the bride. Gorgeous Swarovski sapphire blue teardrops surrounded by clusters of freshwater pearls  that are hanging from stunning teardrop clear crystal ear wires. These earrings are breathtaking and are a mirror image of her bracelet. Cannot wait to see these on Megan!

Finally, The Honeymoon! :

We found a gorgeous cabin in Kauai (through www.homeaway.com ), we're going in December and are both extremely excited about it!

Thank you Megan and Rocco for sharing your story and Megan, thank you for 'finding me'!

I'm awaiting photos and more photos!! I know you are coming up on crunch time so make sure you both take extra special 'us' time. Let the party begin!
